Dreamachine Installation from Knowledge of the Hidden @ The Barbican Centre

I got my own little room by the staff at Barbican fearing the flicker would set off anyone sensitive to the strobing lights. I had quite a large number of people experiment with the machines, some saw colours and patterns, some saw ‘the universe’, some saw nothing, some felt sick.

The green version is an early wooden prototype design of our forth coming metal mechanical dream machine available on pre-order.
The yellow version is an alternative design pattern to the original Brion Gysin design, which flickers at two frequencies.

The Alternative Artists Awards :

””I was disillusioned with the dilution of the alternative performance scene as it was becoming a disposable form of entertainment for people on a boozey night out, or as a vehicle to poke fun at on mainstream television shows. It wasn’t being given the proper respect it deserved.
The Alternative Artists Awards helps re-establish the importance and nessecity of these living, breathing, moving, visual artists of creativity and it is of great significance to honour and celebrate the emotive power and strength that is the beating heart of the art of performance.””
